Being entitled to cheap tax free labor is apparently a right for the white ruling class in the United States. That is why they are against giving the millions of immigrants living in the US illegally any sort of legal status. But then of course it is much cheaper to keep slaves than to pay workers a decent wage. That is the Republican rich white way.... They make me sick... F*** them. Racists. That is all for tonight... Bush Getting Desperate: "The Buck Stops With Hussein"

03-30-06

Looking desperate and like a man who is losing it and once again dodging responsibility and proving he is getting further and further out of touch, (Is he on drugs?), George Bush blamed deposed and imprisoned former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, for the blood fest going on in Iraq. That's what you call Republican responsibility I guess. Meanwhile Condo Rice is making the rounds trying to drum up support for an Iranian invasion. Pictures of the UN Security council meeting showed about thirty percent attendance. Doesn't look good. I wonder how much Exxon is paying them?

The Murder for Bucks Rolls On in Iraq:93/

"Operation Scorpion" The Pipeline;

Next Iran and Then Syria

03-30-06

           By John Robles II (jar2)

So apparently the big news of the day is that George Bush lied when he said he did not want to go to war and now the New York Times has published that fact as if it is one of the great scoops of the century. Every liberal blogger and anyone who has not been living with their head in the sand or under a rock for the past six years could have told you that very fact years ago, and the sad part is that they have. We have, and it has taken them, the major mass media this long to finally decide to publish something akin to the truth.

What is surprising for me is that people are making such a fuss about something so insignificant as that one lie and that not one of the major papers is doing anything to cover or delve into the greater and blacker lies that surround the whole 9-11 Iraq/War on Terror fiasco.

We all know about the American Plan for the New Millennium, (if you have not heard about it do a web search), and we all know that they, (The Bush clan/Cheney/Halliburton), are all getting filthy rich as a result, we have all heard about Bush's "trifecta" statement, Bush's plan to avenge the attempt on his father's life, the Saudi-Bush oil/business partnership, etc. etc. etc.. What most people are not aware of, as it has only been published in well-documented-detail on the web, from where it too has all but vanished, is that the planned invasion of Iraq and Iran were all drawn up by Rumsfeld, then Defense Secretary Dick Cheney and the then Defense Undersecretary for Policy Paul Wolfowitz  way back in the summer of 1990. One of the original plans, "Operation Scorpion", called for U.S. troops to attack Iraq from Saudi Arabia. Since that time and during the past three years there have appeared in the press hundreds of references to "Operation Scorpion" but all appearing to a more or less degree to be nothing more than disinformation or "Psy-Ops" pieces planted on mostly U.S. Military run web sites.

What "Operation Scorpion" really appears to be is the U.S. plan for the invasion, division, and eventual total control of the Middle East, this includes the required and already planned for invasion of Iran, and the taking control of Syria.

What is the reason for all of this, is it religious? Is it really in order to spread American style democracy throughout the region? Are those countries really so "Evil" as to warrant the killing of hundreds of thousands, and eventually millions of innocent civilians? No, no, and no. Try again.

It is in the press everyday, a piece here, a piece there, a corrupt politician arrested there, a CIA agent burned here, and on and on ad nauseam. What the people are missing and why George W Bush, incompetent-heritage-boy, was put in the White House in the first place, yes, "put", both elections were a farce, was to allow those with the real money and power to advance their plan. And what may that plan be? Hold on a sec and I will tell you, but first let us not forget that it is multi-pronged. Part of the plan allows for the building up of the U.S. Military Industrial Complex, which was seeing a significant downsizing during Clinton's Administration. He was hated by many at the Pentagon, remember, Monica? She was sent over from there. The other allows for the taking away of the rights and freedoms of Americans, especially minorities and other "unsavory" parts of the population, the reasons for this I will not go into right now, and the third, albeit primary reason is... Are you ready for this? The real reason is quite simply, drum-roll, an OIL PIPELINE. Yes, that's right humble-peace-loving-intelligent-folks, an oil pipeline.

You heard about the Bush families extensive ties to big oil and the Saudis, you know about Condo Rice's CEO position at Exxon, you know there is an Exxon oil tanker with her name on it, you know about Halliburton's oil interests and military support divisions. You know about Bin Laden a.k.a. Tom Osman (CIA Agent). You put all of that together and the myriad other facts all floating around out there and it should all begin to make sense.

Look at the map for a minute. When Afghanistan was invaded there were news stories about an oil-pipeline project that got back under way right after the invasion. The news stories talked about a pipeline to the Caspian Sea, that is just part of the story. Look at the map. There are also plans for a pipeline through Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, into the Arabian Sea, this one would lie in the lowlands in the Western parts of these countries. Now those are all nice and sweet but the doozy and the big one would connect the West and possibly even China with loads and loads of Middle Eastern and central Asian oil. Possibly even Russian oil. The pipeline would connect Middle Eastern and Central Asian oil fields with the Mediterranean and would run through the relatively flat Northern Terrain of Iran passing just South of Tehran, past Kirkuk and Mosul in Northern Iraq and come out near the nice deep Super-Tanker friendly waters of the Mediterranean Sea near the Lebanese/Syrian border.

Yes folks, people are dying left and right and the country is going into debt, all for a pipeline. But not for long though. Once that American controlled oil starts flowing, in about ten years time, the dollar will once again become the currency of international choice, and more importantly the currency of the oil trade. The U.S. will control the world's oil and all the fat cats' progenies will forever live in comfort. For that American soldiers are dying, Muslims are being demonized, women and children are being slaughtered, the Constitution is being used as toilet paper, and an mad megalomaniac mass murdering blithering idiot is making a mockery of the office of President.

That is the way I see it. See you all later.

The Murder of More Women and Children

Chris Floyd's words on the unspeakable shootings of sleeping babies in Iraq.

SEE:  The Moscow Times   JAR2

We know from the photographs that one child, the youngest, the baby, has a gaping wound in his forehead. We can see that another child, a girl with a pink ribbon in her hair, is lying on her side with blood oozing from the back of her head. The faces of the other children are turned upward toward the sun; if they were shot, they were shot somewhere in the back, and their wounds are not evident. But we can see that their bodies, though covered with dust from the rubble, are otherwise whole; they were evidently not crushed in the collapse of the house. They died in some other fashion.

We know from the photographs that two of the children -- girls, still in their pajamas -- are lying with their dead eyes open. We can see that the light and tenderness that animate the eyes of every young child have vanished; nothing remains but the brute stare of nothingness into nothingness. We can see that the other three children have their eyes closed; two are limp, but the baby has one stiffened arm raised to his cheek, as if trying to ward off the blow that gashed and pulped his face so terribly.

We know that three years ago this week, Bush nevertheless gave the order to begin the unprovoked, unjust and unnecessary invasion of Iraq. He hasn't fired a single shot, tortured any prisoners, beheaded any civilians or planted any bombs. Yet every single atrocity of the war, on both sides, is the direct result of the decision he made three years ago. Nothing he says can change this fact. Nothing he does, or causes to be done, for good or ill, can wash the blood of these children -- and the tens of thousands of other innocent civilians killed in the war -- from his hands.

"In these three years it has become clear that that the reasons that were offered for the operation have proved to be a fiction. This is completely clear. Iran did not possess or make efforts to possess nuclear weapons. It was doing no work to that end. Nor did Iraq have any links with Al Qaeda. This has been admitted in Washington. This means that there were other motives for the action against Iraq," Primakov said.

So why is the U.S. now accusing Russia of aiding Saddam Hussein? Well if you are like me and you look at the facts in the news and try to ignore the spin, it is easier to see the ulterior motives of those propagating the news. We all know that Bush is having a hard time at drumming up support for an Iranian invasion, we know he is trying to take the focus off his illegal spying program, and we know that Russia is one of the few countries that is not cowing to U.S. demands in relation to Iran. So in a tit for tat the current misadministration has once again proven that it will do anything to reach its ends. Instead of complaining to Russia through official channels they have decided to air these questions on the national press rather than through official channels, as would normally be the case. This is just another sign of an administration that is losing touch and losing popularity fast and is becoming increasingly desperate.  Across the board officials here agree that the accusations are nothing more than nonsense and do not merit attention.

Bush Asks U.S. to Look Past Iraq Bloodshed

By TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer

CLEVELAND - Beginning the fourth year of an unpopular war, President Bush defended his Iraq record on Monday against skeptical questioning. He said he could "understand people being disheartened" but appealed to Americans to look beyond the bloodshed and see signs of progress.

The president was asked why he deemed Iraq which turned out not to have weapons of mass destruction as enough of a threat three years ago to launch an invasion, in contrast to nuclear-ambitious Iran today.

"One difference was that, in Iraq, there was a series of unanimous ( U.N. Security Council) resolutions that basically held the Iraqi government to account, which Saddam Hussein ignored," Bush said. Still, he said Iran was a concern, on the question of nuclear weapons and on its role in Iraq.

Bush Using Straw-Man Arguments in Speeches

Another way of lying and hiding the truth.

By JENNIFER LOVEN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - "Some look at the challenges in Iraq and conclude that the war is lost and not worth another dime or another day," President Bush said recently.

Another time he said, "Some say that if you're Muslim you can't be free."

"There are some really decent people," the president said earlier this year, "who believe that the federal government ought to be the decider of health care ... for all people."

Of course, hardly anyone in mainstream political debate has made such assertions.

When the president starts a sentence with "some say" or offers up what "some in Washington" believe, as he is doing more often these days, a rhetorical retort almost assuredly follows.

The device usually is code for Democrats or other White House opponents. In describing what they advocate, Bush often omits an important nuance or substitutes an extreme stance that bears little resemblance to their actual position.

He typically then says he "strongly disagrees" conveniently knocking down a straw man of his own making.

Bush routinely is criticized for dressing up events with a too-rosy glow. But experts in political speech say the straw man device, in which the president makes himself appear entirely reasonable by contrast to supposed "critics," is just as problematic.

Because the "some" often go unnamed, Bush can argue that his statements are true in an era of blogs and talk radio. Even so, "'some' suggests a number much larger than is actually out there," said Kathleen Hall Jamieson, director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania.

A specialist in presidential rhetoric, Wayne Fields of Washington University in St. Louis, views it as "a bizarre kind of double talk" that abuses the rules of legitimate discussion.

"It's such a phenomenal hole in the national debate that you can have arguments with nonexistent people," Fields said. "All politicians try to get away with this to a certain extent. What's striking here is how much this administration rests on a foundation of this kind of stuff."

Bush has caricatured the other side for years, trying to tilt legislative debates in his favor or score election-season points with voters.

Not long after taking office in 2001, Bush pushed for a new education testing law and began portraying skeptics as opposed to holding schools accountable.

The chief opposition, however, had nothing to do with the merits of measuring performance, but rather the cost and intrusiveness of the proposal.

Campaigning for Republican candidates in the 2002 midterm elections, the president sought to use the congressional debate over a new Homeland Security Department against Democrats.

He told at least two audiences that some senators opposing him were "not interested in the security of the American people." In reality, Democrats balked not at creating the department, which Bush himself first opposed, but at letting agency workers go without the usual civil service protections.

Running for re-election against Sen. John Kerry in 2004, Bush frequently used some version of this line to paint his Democratic opponent as weaker in the fight against terrorism: "My opponent and others believe this matter is a matter of intelligence and law enforcement."

The assertion was called a mischaracterization of Kerry's views even by a Republican, Sen. John McCain (news, bio, voting record) of Arizona.

Straw men have made more frequent appearances in recent months, often on national security once Bush's strong suit with the public but at the center of some of his difficulties today. Under fire for a domestic eavesdropping program, a ports-management deal and the rising violence in Iraq, Bush now sees his approval ratings hovering around the lowest of his presidency.

Said Jamieson, "You would expect people to do that as they feel more threatened."

Last fall, the rhetorical tool became popular with Bush when the debate heated up over when troops would return from Iraq. "Some say perhaps we ought to just pull out of Iraq," he told GOP supporters in October, echoing similar lines from other speeches. "That is foolhardy policy."

Yet even the speediest plan, as advocated by only a few Democrats, suggested not an immediate drawdown, but one over six months. Most Democrats were not even arguing for a specific troop withdrawal timetable.

Recently defending his decision to allow the National Security Agency to monitor without subpoenas the international communications of Americans suspected of terrorist ties, Bush has suggested that those who question the program underestimate the terrorist threat.

"There's some in America who say, 'Well, this can't be true there are still people willing to attack,'" Bush said during a January visit to the NSA.

The president has relied on straw men, too, on the topics of taxes and trade, issues he hopes will work against Democrats in this fall's congressional elections.

Usually without targeting Democrats specifically, Bush has suggested they are big-spenders who want to raise taxes, because most oppose extending some of his earlier tax cuts, and protectionists who do not want to open global markets to American goods, when most oppose free-trade deals that lack protections for labor and the environment.

"Some people believe the answer to this problem is to wall off our economy from the world," he said this month in India, talking about the migration of U.S. jobs overseas. "I strongly disagree."

PM voices concern to Bush over CIA flights

By Matt Spetalnick
Fri Mar 17, 3:51 PM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Ireland's prime minister used a Saint Patrick's Day visit to hammer home to President George W. Bush concerns about secret CIA flights through his country and treatment of inmates at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo.

Prime Minister Bertie Ahern raised the issue of rendition, the controversial U.S. practice of moving terrorism suspects from one country to another, in White House talks on Friday, saying he had pressed for "more transparency."

Human rights groups accuse the United States of transporting suspects outside legal channels to countries where they could face torture under interrogation.

Washington says it sometimes transfer suspects without following normal extradition procedures but denies sending them to countries that use torture.

The allegations have sparked protest in European countries, with governments seeking explanations from Washington whether their airports have been used for flights carrying prisoners.

Ahern said Ireland's Shannon airport was a frequent landing site for CIA and military planes and the United States had assured his government it had not been used for rendition.

But Ahern told reporters, "There is concern about extraordinary renditions and concern about CIA flights and we've asked the president's understanding and cooperation."

"It's an issue we will just keep in touch about," he added." We'll do that over the next few weeks."

White House spokesman Scott McClellan called renditions "a valuable tool in our efforts to save lives and protect the American people," but insisted the process was carried out with respect for other nations' sovereignty.

Ahern also added his voice to criticism of the prison at the U.S. base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where hundreds of inmates have been held without trial as part of Washington's war on terrorism.

"We expressed our position that we support what (U.N.) Secretary-General Kofi Annan said -- that we believe people should be released or charged and that humanitarian issues should be fully followed," he said.

U.N. investigators said last month Guantanamo prisoners faced treatment amounting to torture, and Annan said the prison should be closed. The White House has called the detainees "dangerous terrorists" and insists they are humanely treated.

Of the roughly 500 prisoners in Guantanamo, only 10 have been charged with any crime.

Ahern spoke after a ceremony with Bush marking St. Patrick's Day. The day honoring the patron saint of Ireland has special political resonance in the United States where politicians often use the day to curry favor with blocs of Irish-American voters concentrated mostly in major cities.

Former top judge says US risks edging near to dictatorship

Julian Borger in Washington
Monday March 13, 2006
The Guardian

Sandra Day O'Connor, a Republican-appointed judge who retired last month after 24 years on the supreme court, has said the US is in danger of edging towards dictatorship if the party's rightwingers continue to attack the judiciary.
In a strongly worded speech at Georgetown University, reported by National Public Radio and the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, Ms O'Connor took aim at Republican leaders whose repeated denunciations of the courts for alleged liberal bias could, she said, be contributing to a climate of violence against judges.

Ms O'Connor, nominated by Ronald Reagan as the first woman supreme court justice, declared: "We must be ever-vigilant against those who would strong-arm the judiciary."
She pointed to autocracies in the developing world and former Communist countries as lessons on where interference with the judiciary might lead. "It takes a lot of degeneration before a country falls into dictatorship, but we should avoid these ends by avoiding these beginnings."

In her address to an audience of corporate lawyers on Thursday, Ms O'Connor singled out a warning to the judiciary issued last year by Tom DeLay, the former Republican leader in the House of Representatives, over a court ruling in a controversial "right to die" case.

After the decision last March that ordered a brain-dead woman in Florida, Terri Schiavo, removed from life support, Mr DeLay said: "The time will come for the men responsible for this to answer for their behaviour."

Mr DeLay later called for the impeachment of judges involved in the Schiavo case, and called for more scrutiny of "an arrogant, out-of-control, unaccountable judiciary that thumbed their nose at Congress and the president".

Such threats, Ms O'Connor said, "pose a direct threat to our constitutional freedom", and she told the lawyers in her audience: "I want you to tune your ears to these attacks ... You have an obligation to speak up.

"Statutes and constitutions do not protect judicial independence - people do," the retired supreme court justice said.

She noted death threats against judges were on the rise and added that the situation was not helped by a senior senator's suggestion that there might be a connection between the violence against judges and the decisions they make.

The senator she was referring to was John Cornyn, a Bush loyalist from Texas, who made his remarks last April, soon after a judge was shot dead in an Atlanta courtroom and the family of a federal judge was murdered in Illinois.

Senator Cornyn said: "I don't know if there is a cause and effect connection, but we have seen some recent episodes of courthouse violence in this country ... And I wonder whether there may be some connection between the perception in some quarters, on some occasions, where judges are making political decisions yet are unaccountable to the public, that it builds up and builds up to the point where some people engage in violence."

Although appointed by a Republican, Ms O'Connor voted with the supreme court's liberals on some divisive issues, including abortion, making her a frequent target for criticism from the right. After announcing that she intended to retire last year at the age of 75, she was replaced in February this year by Samuel Alito, who is generally regarded as being more consistently conservative.

In her speech, Ms O'Connor said that if the courts did not occasionally make politicians mad they would not be doing their jobs, and their effectiveness "is premised on the notion that we won't be subject to retaliation for our judicial acts".

Trying to Protect Life in Bush World is Not Easy

Stem cell research would save lives. Maybe yours.

SEE:

Dear Friend,
Last year, Democrats and some Republicans joined forces to push the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act through the House. Then we got Senate Republican Leader Bill Frist to buck the White House and announce his support, and victory seemed within reach.

It's now been eight months - eight months - since Senator Frist said he had changed his mind and would support expanding stem cell research beyond President Bush's stifling limitations. That was a moment when millions of Americans suffering from Parkinson's and Alzheimer's Disease, spinal cord injury, diabetes, and other tragic illnesses found renewed hope for a cure - if not for them, for generations to come.

All Senator Frist had to do was schedule a vote. Nobody demanded that he do anything more. One simple vote on the bill that had already passed easily through the House, and it would be placed on President Bush's desk to test his veto threat.

Summer ended, and still no vote. Fall came and went- still no vote. Now, as we are coming up on the 2006 elections, many are fearing that Senator Bill Frist's promise was empty. And today, we have a chance to demand action.

Tell Senator Frist: Time's Up, Hold the Vote on Stem Cell Research

Senator Frist may think that we've forgotten his promise - we need to make clear that we have not. This is far too important.

Tell Senator Frist: Time's Up, Hold the Vote on Stem Cell Research

Last week, we lost Dana Reeve to lung cancer. Touched by the great personal challenge of her husband's paralysis, Dana worked to ensure that other families would not have to endure the same pain. Her fight to fulfill the potential of stem cell research brought the issue from the brink of oblivion to the cusp of success. As Dana said after the passing of her husband Christopher, no less an American hero himself: "Today is the right moment to transform our grief into hope." Even after her loss, and even as she suffered through her own dreadful illness, she fought for the hope that stem cell research gives to millions of Americans.

The National Institutes of Health tell us that a range of diseases from Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases, to spinal cord injury, to stroke, burns, heart disease, diabetes, and even cancer could potentially be addressed with this research. Perhaps it will be years, or even decades, until this potential is fulfilled. But every day Senator Frist makes us wait is another day that people will suffer waiting for a cure.

The last obstacle to putting this bill before President Bush is Senator Frist's refusal to hold a vote in the Senate, where most expect it to pass overwhelmingly.

Please consider doing what you can to make sure the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act gets the vote that Senator Frist promised. Together, we can help ensure that President Bush recognizes the will of the American people and signs it into law.

The bipartisan bill proposed by my friend, Congresswoman Diana DeGette of Colorado, had already passed overwhelmingly in the House, one of the few moments where many Republicans bucked both President Bush and Tom DeLay to do what was right for American families.

But the hopes of millions of Americans, depending on American innovation, were dashed when the matter became trapped again in cruel legislative limbo.

Together, we'll send a united message to Senator Frist that we haven't forgotten his promise.

Tell Senator Frist: Time's Up, Hold the Vote on Stem Cell Research

This isn't a matter of partisan politics. It's time to move forward. Let's work together to help those around us and to continue the legacy of our friends and fighters for the cause. Thank you for everything.

Sincerely,

Nancy Pelosi
House Democratic Leader

P.S. - When I need reminding of what's at stake with stem cell research, I still go look through the hundreds and hundreds of stories that ordinary Americans sent into the DCCC last year explaining their personal reasons for supporting it. I invite you to do the same:

Baiting Iran

03-06-06

The Invasion of Iran has been in the works for years, since Rummy laid it all out for the first Bush in fact. Here is another move designed to bring about an invasion scenario. What better way to cull the support of the American people than with terror and the fear that we might be attacked and destroyed by rogue nuclear weapons? It has worked for Bush Co so far, but the chances of it working again, what with the incompetence of the Iraq fiasco and the hundreds of other mistakes that have been made by this administration, are not too high. I would say 50/50. It would be political suicide to invade at this point. However if the goal of the neo-con warmongers is to end up in front of a war crimes tribunal in Geneva then let's give them some more rope. They will no doubt hang themselves. If what Risen wrote is true it is pretty damning. There is not much time left for Bush Co., if they are going to try to pull it off, as the political climate in the US is changing. Too many people are beginning to distrust the motives of this administration.

In his book, State of War, James Risen includes the startling claim that the U.S. actually handed Tehran the blueprints for an atomic bomb in 2000. The CIA scheme was to introduce intentional flaws in the design plans that would delay or derail Iranian work. The following excerpt shows the poorly conceived plan and its easily identified flaws.

Risen is the reporter who revealed a secret domestic U.S. wiretapping surveillance program exists in the United States.

It's SUNDAY. Remember the Dead.

George Bush Body Count

9-11: 2,986 Innocent Civilians (On Vacation)

Iraq: 32,270 Civilians (Illegal Invasion)

US Soldiers: 2,455 (Unjustfiably Sent to War)

Katerina: 1,300 Innocent Civilians (At the Ranch)

Total: 39011

I can not believe there are still people out there who support this monster and don't have a problem with these figures. It's Sunday. Time for you Neo-Cons to go to church and pretend to be God fearing and get down on your knees and start praying, you have a heavy week ahead.

Halliburton provided Iran with key nuclear reactor components

Seems Cheney sold Iraq nuclear reactor parts.

Halliburton, the scandal-plagued oil company, that Vice President Dick Cheney used to run, sold an Iranian company key components for a nuclear reactor, Halliburton sources revealed.

Cheney was CEO from 1995 to 2000, during which Halliburton Products and Services set up shop in Iran.

According to a February 2001 report in the Wall Street Journal, Halliburton Products & Services Ltd. works behind an unmarked door on the ninth floor of a new north Tehran tower block. A brochure declares that the company was registered in 1975 in the Cayman Islands, is based in the Persian Gulf sheikdom of Dubai and is non-American. But, like the sign over the receptionist's head, the brochure bears the company's name and red emblem, and offers services from Halliburton units around the world.

Abortion the hottest non-topic in the USA is back on the front page. It makes you wonder, the US is a country with the one of the worst social infrastructures in the world, meaning healthcare, education, housing, etc., so why do they insist on forcing unwanted children into the world when they will not be taken care of properly.

As for where to go. Come to Russia at least here women are still allowed to be, well, women. No one tries to dictate to women what they should be allowed to do with their own bodies here.
